The Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry says the private sector should embrace competition and accept it as an opportunity to be innovative and not as a challenge.
Ministry Permanent Secretary Kayula Siame says government has continued to implement reforms that promote a diversified private sector led economy.
She has noted government’s commitment to ensuring that market participants in the Zambian Economy trade on a level playing field.
Ms. Says this will be done by ensuring that markets are guided by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) Act and the CCPC Policy.
The P.S was speaking on Behalf of the Minister, Christopher Yaluma at a joint conference between the CCPC and the Italian Competition Authority in collaboration with the international Finance Corporation.
The conference was held under the theme “Competition Policy and the Private Sector- An inclusive Approach”.
Speaking at the Same Event, Italian Ambassador to Zambia Filippo Scammacca says he is convinced that Competition Policy in Africa is a useful and powerful tool in promoting an inclusive and fair private sector.
