“Govt will support you,” Sports Minister tells four Zambian athletes

Minister of Youth, Sport, and Arts, Elvis Nkandu, says Government is committed to support the four Zambian athletes that will be competing at the Budapest World Athletics Championships in Hungary later this month.

This development marks the first time Zambia will be having four Athletes to compete at the World Athletics Championships.

The Athletes include Patrick Nyambe, Muzala Samukonga, and Niddy Mangilishi in who will be competing in the 400 meters category while Rhoda Njovu will compete in the 200 meters.

Nkandu says there was no wild card entry for any of the four athletes as they qualified based on their respective races through World Athletics Rankings.

“We wish to pledge our support for the four of our Athletes as they compete at the Budapest World Athletics Championships slated for this month,” Nkandu stated.

“We further wish our athletes the very best as they prepare for this competition.”

The athletes are currently in Germany preparing for upcoming championships.

The Budapest World Athletics Championships will be held from 19-27 August, 2023.
