Govt works to win US tourism market

The Ministry of Tourism and Arts has disclosed plans to use the African American Homecoming Network commemorating 400 years after slave trade as an opportunity to enter the international tourism market.
Minister in Charge Dr. Charles Banda says he believes this is a sure way of getting connected to the United States of America, which is a big source of the tourism market.
He says it will also create an opportunity to expose Americans to Zambia so that they can identify the tourism areas that they can invest in.
He says he therefore wants hi ministry to get fully involved in the celebrations scheduled for Mongu district Western Province in August this year.
The Minister was speaking when interim committee members of the of the network led by Induna Namamba of the Barotse Royal Establishment paid a courtesy call on him at his office.
Induna Namamba says the event is going to change Zambia’s economic profile and has called for locals to support it.
The traditional leader says Western Province is the location of choice due to the contribution of the King Mulambwa, the 10th Litunga of the Lozi people’s contribution towards the end of slave trade.
