Invest in Aviation Sector to Boost Economy-Government

The aviation sector has become the most critical segment in the economic development of the country, as it plays an important role in moving people or products from one place to another, be it domestic or international, especially when the distances involved are far.
It is for this reason that government has called on investors to continue investing in the country’s Aviation sector to boost the Economy.
Speaking during the official launch of a pearl Lounge at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Fredrick Mwalusaka said the facility which is a joint venture between National Aviation Service (NAS) based in Kuwait and National Airport Corporation NAC2000, will exploit the business acumen of two successful partners, while creating job opportunities for local people.
Mr. Mwalusaka noted that the joint venture is a great opportunity for learning and growth within the aviation sector of Hospitality servicing aviation transport users.
“It is the hope that such ventures within our new airport are the beginning for a new era for travel from Lusaka and we hope that Covid-19 gives the opportunity to open up international travel so that such ventures are successful, “he said
Speaking at the same event, NAS Lounges Group Director Guy Yazbeck said with over 8,000 employees of 65 different nationalities at the core of its worldwide network, the company is also committed to investing into the development of infrastructure, equipment, technology and human capital of its expanding geographies.
Meanwhile, Nac2000 Managing Director Jonathan Lewis said the focus of the company is to enhance and continue providing the highest standards of the aviation services in the country.
“The Industry in Zambia has come a long way and can now proudly proclaim to be well on our way to being world class and our focus is to enhance and continue to provide the highest standards of aviation services in the country,” he stated
And Zambia airports Cooperation Acting Managing Director Maggie Kaunda stated the airport is glad to have awarded a tender to National Aviation services (NAS) and Nac 2000 Cooperation to operate an airport lounge in the new terminal at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
Zambia Airports Corporation, through an open tender for the first, BUSINESS and commercially important persons in February 2020 for the management of the international departure lounge at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport resulted in the award to a joint venture bid between National Aviation Services (NAS) based in Kuwait and NAC2000 from Zambia.
