K200, 000 of CDF to be spent on school upgrade.

A law maker in Ndola says about K200, 000 of Constituency Development Fund is expected to be used on the upgrade of Yengwe Basic School in Bwana Mukubwa Constituency.

Jonas Chanda told Money FM News that the laying of slab at the construction site of a 1×3 classroom block and staff offices has already been done.
Mr. Chanda said the project is also being supplemented by corporate and individual support, to see to it that the school which goes up to grade 9 level is upgraded to grade 12 level to make education easily accessible.

“The school goes up to grade 9 level and we are aiming to upgrade it to grade 12 level. Pupils are mostly children of poor people living with disabilities.
He added that despite being far, the school has no reliable public transport and staff houses for teachers, hence most learners and teachers shun the learning institution.

“The school is too far from high schools, and there is no reliable public transport, so most pupils drop out of school after grade 9 and resort to undesirable social vices. Teachers also shun the school due to long distances and lack of staff housing.”
‘Consequently, Yengwe Basic School mostly gets the WORST exam results in Ndola district, a trend we hope will be reversed one day,” he stated.
