Kakulubelwa’s dismissal timely – TIZ

•             Dismissal of Ministry of Health Permanente Secretary for Administration is timely given the anomalies that took place under her watch.

•             Hope the dismissal of Ms. Kakulubelwa will not be the end of measures to clean up the Ministry.

•             The development forms part of the comprehensive response to address the wider systemic issues prevalent at the Ministry.

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) says the dismissal of Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Administration is timely given the anomalies that took place under her watch at the institution.

Organization Executive Director Maurice Nyambe tells Money FM News, that he hopes the dismissal of Ms. Mulalelo Kakulubelwa will not be the end of the measures being put in place to clean up the Ministry.

Mr Nyambe says problems at the Ministry go beyond individuals and are systemic in nature.

“We believe that the problems at the MoH go beyond individuals and are systemic in nature,” he said.

He has since reiterated calls for a full independent investigation into the Ministry’s dealings in order to root out the institutional and systemic weaknesses that have seemingly allowed corruption to take root in the organization.

Mr Nyambe further hopes that the Permanent Secretary’s dismissal, which follows the firing of the Minister a few weeks ago forms part of the comprehensive response to address the wider systemic issues that are prevalent at the Ministry of Health.

“We therefore reiterate our call for a full independent investigation into the MoH’s dealings in order to root out the institutional and systemic weaknesses that have seemingly allowed corruption to take root in the MoH,” he said.

Yesterday, President Edgar Lungu fired seven Permanent Secretaries, including Ministry of Health PS Ms. Mulalelo Kakulubelwa with a call to investigative agencies to always probe people dismissed on allegations of corruption.
