Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) says it has arrested and charged former Director of Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre (KGRTC) for corruption involving USD 35,000.

ACC Spokesperson Queen Chibwe in a statement to Money FM News revealed that Kaela Kennedy Siame aged 57 of Camp 1 Kafue Gorge has been charged with 9 counts of Abuse of Authority of Office Contrary to section 21 (1) (a) as read with section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act Number 3 of 2012.

Ms. Chibwe explained that Mr. Siame is alleged to have abused his authority of office when he, on multiple occasions between 2016 and 2020, arbitrarily approved applications for subsistence allowances amounting to USD 35,000 for a project that was fully sponsored.

“Mr. Siame’s actions as a Public Officer to abuse his authority of office are prejudicial to the rights and interests of the Government of the Republic of Zambia as the transactions involve the Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre, which is a public body,” she said.

Ms. Chibwe added that the accused has been released on bond and will appear in court on 28th June, 2022.
