KRI applauds early distribution of farming inputs

Kaypro Research Institute (KRI) has applauded government for the early distribution of farming inputs in readiness for the 2020-2021 agriculture season.
Organization Chief Executive Officer Dr. Frank Kayula told Money FM News in an interview that the action is good and unprecedented because it will enable farmers under the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) to adequately plan for their agriculture activities.
Dr. Kayula observed that government has started the distribution early because this is the time that farmers are selling their produce and they have so far made some money to allow subscribe for the inputs.
“This is very good action that has been taken by government, and we applaud them. Where we have the government doing well, we commend them, they have done it so early this time around and why it is much better this time around is because this is the time that farmers are selling their produce and as they sale, they are making money, Dr. Kayula said.”
He urged the farmers not to prioritize other things and neglect paying their K400 contributions now when they have money but that they deposit because government has helped by opening up subscription to inputs early.
“They should not buy other things and neglect paying their K400 contribution now when they have money. Let them deposit because government has helped by opening up subscription to inputs early. This is good and unprecedented, he added.
Government has set aside K1.7 billion to help one million farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) access fertilizer and seed ahead of the 2020-2021 farming season.
