The local Currency extended its losses in Friday’s trading session weighed down by strong demand from various sectors who sought for the greenback.
As at 08:30 hours, on Friday, commercial banks in Lusaka quoted the local unit at between Eighteen Kwacha One Ngwee and Eighteen Kwacha Fifteen Ngwee per Dollar.
However in the Afternoon of Friday the currency traded on the back foot touching a low of between Eighteen Three Ngwee and Eighteen Kwacha Thirty Five Ngwee where it closed for the day.
The local unit is likely post minor losses in the near term with Kwacha appetite reducing as month end obligations dry out.
But experts have projected that the Kwacha is this week expected to continue trading at a weak note, unless there is late conversions for month end payments which is highly unexpected.
