The Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) says it is in talks with the Financial Intelligence Center on how best the two organizations can work together and ensure that LAZ members are sensitized about financial crimes and reminded about the Financial Intelligence Center Act.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News LAZ President Eddie Mwitwa Sid the revelation in the reports that some law firms are being used as channels for financial crimes requires attention from LAZ.
Mr Mwitwa said revelations by FIC that levels of corruption in the country are going up instead of reducing is an indication that the fight against corruption is far from being won.
He says the association will from time to time be engaging with the Financial Intelligence Center to hold sensitization programs and workshops just to reminded about the Financial Intelligence Center Act.
The LAZ President has also called on President Edgar Lungu to relieve Housing and Infrastructure Minister Rolnald Chitotela from his ministerial duties pending prosecution of his matter.
Mr Mwitwa says if the fight against corruption is to be given the support it needs public offices being prosecuted should not be allowed to serve the nation.
He adds that the call by the association to have Mr Rolnald Chitotela relieved of his duties does not mean that he is guilt, but will promote the fight against corruption in the country.
