Local construction companies having challenges to access loans

A local Construction Company has bemoaned that commercial banks are not user friendly in terms of helping local companies in accessing loans.
Citizens Poach Limited Chief Executive Officer Moses Lungu tells Money FM News that the construction equipment is very expensive and not easily accessed.
Mr. Lungu says this is one of the greatest challenge the construction sector in Zambia is facing.
“You know what, for our businesses to flourish, we need the help of the government. Can we have a special fund specifically for entrepreneurs in the construction sector,” he suggested.
Mr. Lungu said this is the more reason why local construction companies fail to compete with foreign construction companies who have capital and are able to buy the equipment.
He stated that the local construction companies have capacity to contribute to the economic development of the country provided they are technically supported.
Mr. Lungu said the government has been empowering other economic players leaving behind construction companies that also need the financial support of the state.
