Micro SMEs to access to digital finance systems

• Ministry of Labour and Social Security launched the National Productivity Policy.
• The program will enable the informal sector to use digital platforms in handling their finances.
• The objectivity target is to increase the productivity of business by micro SMEs.

Zambian Micro and Small Traders Foundation Cooperative said it will identify and train 200 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from the 10 provinces on how they can utilize digital platforms in their businesses.

Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Foundation National Executive Officer Teddy Sinkala said the operation will focus on SMEs in the informal sector and the training will be done through National Productivity Policy which was recently launched by Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

“You are aware that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security launched the National Productivity Policy, so, so far we have been engaged to start identifying the SMEs in the informal sector who are those who are applying for the digital programme. This programme will see the informal sector using digital platforms than getting money like hard cash for doing business and they will be taught how to advertise their products digitally,” he said.

Mr. Sinkala added that the training will equip beneficiaries with knowledge on how to handle their finances without the use of hard cash in their line of doing business.

He further said, “The objectivity target is to increase the productivity of business and provide a competitiveness environment in the market and we want to capture 200 people which is 20 per province.”
