Mines Ministry to Investigate illegal Uranium Mining in Siavonga

The Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development has directed the Director in charge of Mine Licensing to investigate reports that there are mining activities going on at the Muntangwa Uranium Mine in Siavonga District.
Mines and Minerals Development Minister Richard Musukwa has reiterated that the Ministry has not authorized any such activities at the named mine.
He says the only works that the ministry is aware of are exploration works and says any ongoing mining activities there are iligal.
Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama had said in a telephone interview with Money FM News that there are active mining activities going on at the mine.
Meanwhile Hon. Musukwa says that those that bring Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) into the country should understand that the country has a Zero Tolerance of Corruption.
The Minister says processes such the Licensing Procedures are more prone to corruption in his ministry.
He has assured that their procedures have a zero tolerance of corruption system at every level and has reiterated government’s commitment to continue attracting FDIs.
