Mobile service insurance proves no competition.

Insurance Association of Zambia says the introduction of insurance policies by network providers will not create competition in the sector.

Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association Manager for Consumer Education and Risk Kambole Chituwo said this is because most network providers are unable to cover insurance risks.
Mr. Chituwo said “mobile networks are only access points acting as agents of insurance firms who actually cover all risks that customers insure.”

He added that Mobile networks sign agreements with insurers to help people cover and protect necessary costs.
Mr. Chituwo makes this comment following the announcement by one of the mobile network providers that it has partnered with a named insurance Broker to launch a new range of insurance services.
