Mvunga qualified

Energy expert says newly appointed Bank of Zambia governor Christopher Mvunga will prove his critics wrong in his new role as governor.
Johnson Chikwanda says professionally, Mr Mvunga is broad, intelligent and deadline driven. He has such a strong praxis of leadership and seriousness.
“Being a former Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Finance; the ministry that supervises the Bank of Zambia and immediate Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet in Charge of Finance and Economics Mr Mvunga will be able to understand his new role without difficulties,” Mr Chikwanda said.
“He is coming from the banking and financial sector where he held alpha level positions in both in Zambia and South Africa, hence the need to give him a chance to be the County’s governor.”
Mr Chikwanda added that with the support of the staff at Bank of Zambia and smooth transition, into office Mr Mvunga will perform beyond expectations.
“Mvunga will prove his critics wrong, let’s not personalize positions. He has such a strong praxis of leadership and gravitas when he sets his hands to the plough. This man has a history of almost sleeping in the office until work gets done from what we hear from those close to him,” he said.
Mr Chikwanda has since forewarned lazy people at the central Bank, that only talks a lot and get little done, and those who have insufficient sense of urgency and frustrate leadership that they are not going to have it easy at Bank of Zambia with the new governor.
On Saturday, President Edgar Lungu terminated the contract of Bank of Zambia Governor Dr Denny Kalyalya and replaced him with Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Christopher Mvunga.
