NAQEZ appeals for UNZA’s K200 Million loan.

National Action for Quality Education in Zambia has appealed to the Minister of Higher Education Brian Mushimba to rescind his refusal in granting the University of Zambia (UNZA) K200 Million loan.

Mr Chansa said NAQEZ craves for better funding of higher education in Zambia coupled with superior managers of its Universities.

He further called for the Ministry of Higher Education to release UNZA and CBU grants, and also to begin releasing funds to respective Universities as soon as the Ministry makes loan recoveries from former students.

He said “the culture by government of  holding on to funds meant for Universities has left a trail of academic destruction at UNZA and CBU.”
National Action for Quality Education in Zambia further demanded for, the University of Zambia Vice Chancellor and the Copperbelt University, to immediately resign for Gross incompetence and allow capable individuals to run the two public Universities.

“The University of Zambia as well as the Copperbelt University are in shambles not just because the Ministry of Higher Education has neglected the institutions but also because management teams at the institutions are grossly incompetent and are too economically inactive.” Mr Chansa said
