National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) says it fully supports Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ)’s decision to nullify 2021 Grade 12 results for 612 Kaoma pupils from different schools for allegedly engaging in examination malpractice.
NAQEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa told Money FM News in an interview that the organization believes that ECZ’s action is in good faith, as it is meant to punish those who engage in exam malpractices.
Mr. Chansa stated that exam leakages and other exam malpractices are very dangerous to the country’s education system and no one should support such acts.
“As an organization that promotes quality education, we support any action by the Examinations Council of Zambia aimed at punishing those who engage in exam malpractices. This is such an act that we support because we believe that this action is in good faith,” Mr. Chansa said.
He urged ECZ to expedite the investigations so that those that are innocent should be given the results while those who will be found wanting should have their results withheld and be blacklisted.
“All that we ask from the ECZ is to expedite the investigations so that if there are those that are innocent, they should be given the results but those that will be found wanting should be able to be punished, their results must be withheld, they must be blacklisted so that it acts as a deterrent to those that might be thinking of using leakages. This applies even to those who are writing exams this year, they must stay away from exam leakages and other exam malpractices.”
“These are very dangerous to our education and the country and no body must be able to support anyone that engages in exam malpractices. So we support the action by ECZ but of course we want them to act, investigate quickly so that those that are innocent should not be affected by those that engage in exam malpractices,” he added.
Recently, Examinations Council of Zambia nullified 2021 Grade 12 results for 612 Kaoma pupils from different schools for allegedly engaging in examination malpractice.
And the affected Pupils appealed to the Council to rescind its decision stating that there is no evidence to show that all the 612 pupils took part in the alleged malpractice.
