New Water Development Minister pledges to hit the ground running

• The template is already in place.
• I have got a shot at it for four months.
• Water is a critical resource in the fight against Covid-19.

Newly appointed Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection has pledged to implement all the water projects being undertaken by the Ministry.

Speaking shortly after the Swearing in ceremony, Raphael Nakachinda stated that he will do his level best in ensuring implementation of all the programs and hopes to achieve positive results within the four months he will be in office.
Mr. Nakachinda said he is lucky to be going to a Ministry where his predecessor was already up and running with regards to the provision of clean and safe drinking water and sanitation services, therefore the need for him to see to it that President Edgar Lungu’s vision is actualized.
“Let me begin by thanking his Excellency the President for the confidence that he has continued to express by bestowing this responsibility on me. I am lucky in the sense that I am going to a Ministry where my predecessor was already up and running, the template is already in place, mine is to hit the road running to implement programs that are being undertaken, to have the vision of his Excellency particularly in that sector actualized, without leaving anyone behind.”
“I have got a shot at it for four months, I will do my level best and I hope to achieve results that will benefit Zambians within this short period,” Mr. Nakachinda said.
He noted that water is one of the critical resources required to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, hence stable supply of the commodity is primary focus.
And President Edgar Lungu has advised Mr. Nakachinda not to engage in actions that might bring Government into disrepute.
The Head of State further instructed the newly appointed Minister to look at ways of improving the water sector in the country.

Yesterday, President Edgar Lungu appointed Raphael Nakacinda as new Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection, taking over from Dr. Jonas Chanda who has replaced Dr. Chitalu Chilufya at the Ministry of Health.
