Nkana Football Club has moved top of the Zambian Super League table on 46 points after beating Zanaco Football Club 3-nil in a rescheduled Week 23 encounter played at Nkana Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Goals from Chrispine Mulenga, Kelvin Mubanga and Idriss Mbombo were enough to give the 12 times champions all the three points as Zanaco recorded their first defeat under Chris Kaunda.
Aba Red moved level on points with Fole Malembe while Nkana have a better goal difference compared to the Ndola based side.
The result leaves Zanaco looted on position 10 on 35 points from 22 league matches and further complicates their aspirations of making the top four.
Zanaco’s next match will be away against Green Eagles next Wednesday in Choma while Nkana will be facing Red Arrows on 1st August at Lusaka’s Nkoloma Stadium.
Meanwhile, a National Division One match between National Assembly Football Club and Kitwe United Football Club failed to take off this afternoon at Lusaka’s Queens Mead Stadium due to delayed Covid-19 results.
Kitwe United, who are coming from a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Police College Football Club last Saturday, did their Covid-19 test this morning which led to the hosting team National Assembly refusing to play the match without knowing the test results of the visiting side.
The game has since been rescheduled to Thursday 23rd July, 2020 awaiting Kitwe United’s test results.
