No fuel hike – ERB

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has refuted social media reports that fuel prices will be adjusted by midnight.

Speaking to Journalists, Board Public Relations Manager Kwali Mfuni said there are processes that the organisation follows before any fuel adjustments are made.

Ms. Mfuni said the board has to sit and consider the particular decision before the prices are hiked.

“I just wish to advise that there is a due process that is followed to adjust fuel prices in Zambia, the ERB have to conduct its processed and the board has to sit and consider the particular decision and the process has not been done,” Ms. Mfuni explained.

“So I wish to inform the general public through the media that there is no fuel adjustment tonight, as it is being circulated on social media.”

She has since called on members of the public to disregard the rumours that are being circulated on social media stating that once the due processes are completed, members of the public will be informed on the way forward.

“Once all the due processes have been completed by the ERB members of the public will be informed as per standard practice, we always announce once we are done with the due process,” she noted.
