National Union for Public and Private Educators of Zambia (NUPPEZ) has called on government to consider the completion of schools whose construction are at 80% in different parts of the country.
Union General Secretary Nelson Mwale told Money FM News in interview that even the teacher recruitment exercise should have exceeded the 30, 000 target government has set in the 2022 national budget.
Mr. Mwale said the education sector has an excess of about 60, 000 teachers that are waiting to be deployed in the teaching fraternity, adding that government should also enhance the rewarding of bursaries to students across all corners of the country.
“Our hope for the education sector is that the completion of the projects that were not completed by the previous government to be completed especially the schools that are on 80/90 percent completion,” he said.
Mr. Mwale stated that, “We also have the procurement of desks and other learning materials that we expect to be procured because you will realize that a number of schools still have learners that are sitting on the ground because of lack of the same.
