• Political parties should dialogue on how to conduct campaigns amidst COVID-19
• There is need to enact a law to guide how parties should their programs
• Politicians should meet to discuss issues of national interest.
Political Science Association of Zambia (PSAZ) says there is need for political parties in the country to dialogue and find a way forward on how they are going to be holding election campaigns amidst the COVID 19 period.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association President Joe Ndabwa has also emphasized the need for the country to come up with a law that will guide political parties on how they should conduct their political programs during the period.
“There is need to come up with a law that will govern how parties should conduct their programs,” he said.
“We have heard people complaining that the governing party seem to be moving around during this time of the pandemic but other political parties are not allowed.”
Mr. Ndabwa further says the dialogue will streamline areas that need urgent attention in the political landscape of the country.
“The law that should be put in place cannot happen without these political parties agreeing on the modalities and specific issues on how campaigns are going to be conducted,” he said.
He has since encouraged politicians to always meet when there is need to address issues of national interest.
