The Administration in Eastern Province says preparations for the provincial Expo slated for later this year are on course so far.
Provincial Permanent Secretary Dr. Buleti Nsemukila says event managers and resource mobilization teams have already been engaged.
Speaking in a telephone interview with Money FM News today, Dr. Nsemukila says the event is budgeted for K10 million.
He adds that much of the financial contributions are expected to be made by the private sector as the expo is a private sector led event and the response from the sector is quite good so far.
The Permanent Secretary has noted that priority sectors during the expo include the Agriculture sector as Value addition is required for the crops and the sector as a whole.
He says the forestry industry is also a priority sector and discloses that a letter of Intent was signed with the Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Company (ZAFFICO) who are expected to enter the province during the EXPO.
Dr. Nsemukila adds that Energy sector also needs investment in order to support the upcoming industry and Manufacturing in the province.
He says other target sectors include Manufacturing and Tourism as Eastern Province has most of the animals are found in the parks and game reserves in the province.
The Eastern Province Expo was launched on the Eve of the N’Cwala Traditional Ceremony of the Ngoni People on Friday the 22nd of February 2019, Sponsored by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and ZAFFICO.
The Event will take place from the 27th to 30th of August 2019 and will coincide with the Kulamba Kubwalo Ceremony of the Chewa people.
