Printing of Ballot Papers completed

• As of 19th July, 2021, overall progress was at 95%.
• Packing of ballot papers in readiness for shipment to Zambia has advanced.
• ECZ has encouraged and facilitated participation of Stakeholders in the monitoring of the printing process in Dubai.

Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has disclosed that the printing of ballot papers for the August 12 general elections has been completed.
Addressing stakeholders who were monitoring the printing process in Dubai, ECZ Commissioner Ali Simwinga also revealed that the packing of the ballot papers in readiness for shipment to Zambia has reached an advanced stage.
Ambassador Simwinga said when the Commission gave an update on 19th July 2021, overall progress was at 95% with the Presidential, while Mayoral and National Assembly ballots completed at 100% and Local Government ballots at 79%.
“In our last engagement on 19th July, 2021, we updated you on the progress of the printing of the 12th August, 2021 General Election ballot papers here at the Al Ghurair printing plant in Dubai, UAE. Overall progress was at 95% with the Presidential, Mayoral ballots and National Assembly ballots completed at 100% with Local Government ballots at 79%.”
“We also notified you and the nation that the printer had completed the printing of the tactile braille ballot paper jackets for the election. Allow me now to inform you that printing of the Presidential, Mayoral, National Assembly and Local Government ballots is complete at 100%,” he said.
Mr. Simwinga also stated that the Commission has encouraged and facilitated the participation of various stakeholders in the monitoring of the printing process with the Zambian delegation in Dubai who include the media, Civil Society Organizations, Political parties, and Law enforcement Agencies.
“I’m happy to inform you that joining us here are Fr. Emmanuel Chikoya of the Christian Churches Monitoring Group (CCMG) and three of his colleagues, Mr. John Sauti, Mr. Jimmy Maliseni, and Ms. Vainess Zulu. This brings the total number of Stakeholders present in Dubai to monitor the printing process at ten (10).
The Electoral Commission of Zambia has contracted Al Ghurair printing Company in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to print Ballot papers for the August 12 polls.
