Reduction in school users fees saluted

Crusaders against early child in Zambia have praised Government for revising user fees in all public schools with a view to widen access to education regardless of a child’s socioeconomic status.
Speaking during a press briefing in Choma, Zambia, Musokotwane Compassion Mission Zambia Executive Director Sibbuku Musokotwane says his organization welcomes and backs the move by government to revise the user fees.
Mr. Musokotwane charges that the decision is a live gunshot ammunition towards curbing the early child marriage and schools drop-outs prevalence in the country.
Mr. Musokotwane adds that this decision is not only a relief to parents, but also a reaffirmation of this government’s commitment to the implementation of the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP).
“This move will not only be a relief to parents and guardians finding it difficult to put their children in school, but also materialize government’s commitment to end child marriage, and also accelerating development efforts towards Vision 2030 without leaving anyone behind,” said Mr. Musokotwane.
Mr. Musokotwane has further challenged that such pronouncement should not end at State House but reflect the reality obtaining on the ground.
“It is our heartfelt desire that Cabinet pronouncements do not end at State House but reflect the reality obtaining at grassroots, because the people intended to benefit from these pronouncements are the Zambians at grassroots level,” he stressed.
Mr. Musokotwane further appealed to all those tasked by the Head of State for policy implementation to get the user fee ball rolling.
“We appeal to those tasked to implement government policies and pronouncements to get the ball rolling, so that; come May, 2019, schools open with revised user fees across all public schools,” appealed Mr. Musokotwane.
