Reopened Baluba mine employees about 500 workers.

Luanshya Mayor says the reopened Baluba mine in Luanshya has created about five hundred jobs for the locals.

Speaking in an interview with Money Fm News today Mr. Nathan Chanda says the mine has economically transformed Luanshya town.

“Baluba mine has created the much needed jobs for the people of Luashya Town and up lifted the livelihood of the resdents’’ He said.

Mr Chanda says all miners that were put on forced leave have been called back for work at the mines.

He says even miners that left employment on voluntary bases has been given the opportunity to rejoin the mining company.

He says the mine is still employing more workers as it has been employing in phases.

Mr Chanda is hopeful that the reopened mine will employ more than the current five hundred jobs.

The mine reopened this year in March after being placed on care and maintenance three years ago which saw about over 1, 640 workers lose their jobs.
