Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) says it is working to ensure that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have easy access to the Continental market.
Speaking shortly after touring the Mongu Industrial Yard in Western Province that is partially operational, Commission Director General Dr. Muwe Mungule said CEEC wants to ensure that products that come from Industrial Yards are of international standard.
“In the context of what we are trying to promote, we still need to up the game. The SMEs are trying the best they can but I think they need some help and we have already identified what needs to be done.”
“The basic concept that we would like to pursue is to ensure that the products that come of these places are of international standard, we want to change the game. We want our SMEs to realize that they have an opportunity to access the international market,” Dr. Mungule said.
Dr. Mungule stated that the Continental market that has been created is so huge and CEEC wants to see to it that SMEs in the country have an opportunity to access the international market.
He stressed the need to improve the quality of local products for them to compete favorably on the international market.
“We do have the continental market that has been created, the continent of Africa which is so huge, and we want our SMEs to have space in that market also. But we need to up the game in terms of product quality,” he added.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mungule disclosed that CEEC has rolled out its Debt Recovery Drive and has gone full-throttle in loan recoveries in order to create a sustainable revolving fund.
He encouraged owing clients to commit to paying back their loan.
