Stable power supply boosts manufacturing sector

The Zambia Association of Manufacturers says stability of power supply to the manufacturing sector has resulted in high productivity as compared to 2016 and 2017.

Association Chief Executive Officer Chipego Zulu says beginning of this year was also challenging due to the outbreak of cholera which she says affected productivity.

Ms Zulu notes with gladness that the stability of power supply has seen increased production due to the availability of electricity.

She notes that second quarter for manufacturers on the Copperbelt was a bit challenging as they faced some power failures which power utility company Zesco effectively communicated to them.

Ms Zulu has also disclosed that the association will commerce registration of companies to start using the Proudly Zambia Logo on products that meet standards.
