SUN welcomes chain store inspections by national bio-safety authority.


Organization Country Director Mathews Mhuru has told Money FM News in an interview that they are a lot of GMO’s food stuffs are entering the country without being noticed.
Mr Mhuru says the national bio-safety must keep inspecting chain stores to avoid chain stores in the country from importing food stuffs that are not safe for consumers.
He says there is therefor need authority to enhance the inspections.
He says the manufactures in the country must promote value addition to local products and stop the importation of Genetically Modified Organisms GMO’s
He says once the manufactures begin to add value to products on demand the country will not be importing genetically modified organisms GMO’s food stuffs.
The National bio-safety Authority this week discovered that two chain stores in the country sale Genetically Modified Organisms GMO’s to their consumers.
