NRFA Public Relations Officer Alphonsious Hamachila says toll Collectors at Manyumbi, Kafulafuta, Chongwe, Katuba, Mumbwa and Shimabala, demonstrated the Agency’s strategic results of Service Excellence and Operational Efficiency as they served over 1.7 million vehicles in the First Quarter of 2018.

Mr. Hamachila says over 300, 000 vehciles that accessed the Toll six Stations, enjoyed the Local User and Frequent User Discounts, respectively, while 1.4 million were non discount traffic.

Local User Discounts are for road users who reside within a ten kilometer radius of a Toll Station.

Upon application, these had their small vehicles pay K2 for single access, or K50 for the whole month, while light vehicles with 2 – 3 axles paid K15 for single access or K450 for the whole month.

He says on the other hand Frequent Users are those motorists who accessed the respective Toll Stations for ten consecutive times in 30 days and qualified for frequent user discounts of between K5 and K10 for closed period of another thirty days.

Mr. Hamachila says during the first quarter of 2018, Shimabala recorded the highest traffic volumes at 455,000 followed by Katuba at 426,000 while Chongwe was at 280,000, Manyumbi stood at 272,000 and Kafulafuta at 235,000 while Mumbwa had the lowest traffic volumes at 67,000.

The NRFA Spokesperson further discloses that simplified Toll Stations were opened at Chembe, at the Border between Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kalense between Kasama and Mbala, Kateshi between Kasama and Luwingu and Kakonde between Mbala and Nakonde.
