Wina urges police to investigate kidnapping of Russian at Gemcanton Mine

Acting President Inonge Wina has directed Police and Immigration Department to thoroughly investigate the kidnapping of a Russian manager from Gemcanton Mine in Lufwanyama District.

Speaking at South Down Airport in Kalulushi District, Mrs. Wina says she will take advantage of the trip in Kitwe to engage security forces over the kidnapping incident that happened Gemcanton Mining area.

Our Copperbelt Staffer Alick Nyankata reports that the Acting President the government is not pleased with what happened at Gemcanton because the matter undermines the security of the nation.

Ms Wina added that government is hopeful that the truth will come out after the thorough investigations by the security forces.

“While am here I will engage security forces over the incident that took place in the Gemcanton mining area that of a kidnapping of a Mining executive of Russian origin. The incident is not pleasing to government because the whole matter undermines the security of our country,” she said.
