Works on modern Police station in Ndola resume

• This is a CDF funded project it’s not funded by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
• A businessman, working with Minister of Home Affairs donated 700 pockets of cement to the project.
• This is the first modern police station in Ndola which will have all the key services of a modern police.

Bwana Mkubwa Member of Parliament says works on the construction of the K5 million Police Station in Ndola have resumed.
Speaking when he checked on the progress of works at the first ever police station being constructed in his Constituency, Dr. Jonas Chanda said he is happy with the resumption of works despite some challenges that were faced causing the project to slow down.
Dr. Chanda, who is also Minister of Health, noted that the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic coupled with changes in Ndola City Council Management had slowed progress on the project which is being done using Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
“In Ndola we have four constituencies, when you look at the other constituencies they all have police stations, Bwana Mkubwa is the only Constituency without a Police station and yet Bwana Mkubwa is very crowded now but security has been a challenge over the years. In Mushili not even a police post because the smallest police post that they have is near training centre its only improvised that’s why I worked very closely with the Minister of Home Affairs Honorable Stephen Kampyongo to say we need to start a project here,” Dr. Chanda said.
The Bwana Mkubwa lawmaker revealed that apart from using CDF, he has also lobbied for corporate support from local companies and other businesses both in Ndola and outside in order to make the project a success.
He further disclosed that recently, a businessman, working with Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo, donated 700 pockets of cement to the project, while there is also K1 million from the 2020 CDF for the project.
“This is a CDF funded project it’s not funded by the Ministry of Home Affairs. So what we have done for the structure to be where it is today, we used part of CDF but I have also used a lot of corporate lobbying, I lobby companies. But I’m also thankful that a few weeks ago the Minister of Home Affairs Honorable Kampyongo also came here and donated 700 pockets of cement through a businessman. So we have 700 pockets of cement and about K1 million of CDF that we haven’t even used,” he added.
Dr. Chanda explained that once completed, the Police Station will provide comprehensive security services to protect the people in his Constituency and beyond.
He appealed to the corporate world to come on board and supplement the efforts being used through CDF.
This is the first modern police station in Ndola which will have all the key services of a modern police station such as a Traffic Office, Community Police, Intelligence, Victim Support Unit, Interrogations, Armory, and 4 jails among others.
