Nkoka Women in Agro-Business advised youths in Agriculture to fully maximize the capital injection they have received from funding organizations in order for the sector to thrive.
Organization Founder Nkolola Halwindi told Money FM News in an interview that youths should seriously take up opportunities at their disposal and put the money to good use.
Mrs. Halwindi also called on agencies giving out grants to youths in Agriculture to support the young people in skills development, capacity building in terms of financial literacy, value addition, and commercializing their agri-businesses.
“My recommendation is that the youth should seriously take up the opportunity and put that money to good use,” Mrs. Halwindi said.
She said youths who still shun agriculture should get examples from those who have become successful farmers.
“I just want to encourage and challenge the youth to take up that fund and agencies that are giving out these funds, must ensure that they support them from skills development to commercializing of agro-businesses,” she added.
Recently, Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission Public Relations Officer Michelo Mukuta disclosed that the commission has disbursed K65 million to youths since inception.
Mr. Mukuta said Youths engaging in Cassava project have been funded the most because it is being used as an alternative for nutrition.
