ZACCO highly expectant of 2022 budget implementation

• It’s a good planning document.
• Implementation is what will determine whether or not it is working according to the Association’s expectations.
• ZACCO is hopeful that implementation will be as it is reflected.

Zambia Association of Citizen Contractors (ZACCO) says it is highly expectant of the implementation of next year’s national budget.

Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association Secretary General Danny Simumba said the institution is eagerly waiting to see the implementation of the planning document because many are the times when people see good figures in the budget but execution becomes a problem.

Mr. Simumba however noted that the budget has good substance as there is provision for Constituency Development Fund, and more money allocated towards empowerment of the youth as well as dismantling of outstanding debt.

“It’s a good planning document, but we wait to see the implementation because many times we see good figures in the budget but implementation becomes a problem,” Mr. Simumba said.

He further said implementation of the financial plan is what will determine whether or not it is working according to the Association’s expectations.

“From the planning point of view, it’s a good document but we wait to see the implementation because implementation that’s where you now say it’s working according to expectations. But we are hopeful that implementation will be as it is reflected, we are hopeful that government will implement the budget as they have planned,” he added.

On 29th October 2021, Minister of Finance and National Planning Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane presented the K173 billion national budget for the fiscal year 2022, which is the new administration’s first budget.
