Zambia confirms 16 Covid-19 cases.

Minister of Health says Zambia has recorded four new cases of Coronavirus bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 16.


Giving a sixth update on Covid-19, Dr. Chitalu Chilufya said three cases involve individuals with a history of travel to Pakistan.
He added that one case involves a citizen based in Luanshya but was on the same flight from Dubai to Lusaka when they interacted with one of the passengers who came from Dubai.


“Laboratory confirmed cases of covid-19 in Zambia have increased to 16. The three new patients like 8 others announced yesterday have a history of travel to Pakistan and the 4th patient was on the same plane with them,”Dr. Chilufya stated.

Dr. Chilufya further disclosed that none of the Zambian health workers have contracted the disease.
He urged all citizens who traveled back on the same flight on 18th March, to get in touch with the Ministry of Health.

The Minister of Health also reiterated the need for citizens to practice discipline and take responsibility by adhering to the provisions of SI 21 and SI 22 on the management and control of the disease.
