Energy Forum Zambia says Zambia has had consistent and stable supply of petroleum products in one year despite disruptions in the global energy sector.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Forum Chairperson Dr. Johnstone Chikwanda says government has been able to guarantee sustained security for supply to the country in form of fuel availability.
Dr. Chikwanda stated that there is need to commend the new administration for ensuring consistent and stable fuel supply.
“There have been a lot of disruptions in the global energy sector. Some countries have been having fuel stock outs but Zambia has had consistent and stable supply of petroleum products in one year.”
“It being a new government, with the complications that accompany this industry, the possibilities of having hiccups here and there could have been high but we have seen that government has been able to guarantee sustained security for supply to the country in form of fuel availability,” Dr. Chikwanda said.
He noted that government has also been able to shift Zambia into a clean fuel’s mandate, by banning the use of high Sulphur diesel which is very toxic to the environment, human health and motor vehicles.
“By banning the use of that in the country means that government is responding to the greening agenda, is responding to bettering the quality of the air that we are breathing in the country, is bettering the emissions control as you know pollution kills 7 million people globally every year and so we have to respond,” he stated.
