Zambia might Experience Droughts,2018/19

A business Consultancy Firm says it predicts that Zambia might experience some droughts this rainy season.
G.N Grants Consultants Managing Consultant Grandy Ntumbo says this following earlier predictions of the region experiencing El nino effects in the 2018/2019 season.
He was speaking on Money Fm’s Newspapers Yesterday and today Radio Program which airs Every Saturday at 07:30 hours.
Mr. Ntumbo says this will affect the 2019 harvest, hydro Electricity power generation which will lead to more load shedding and livestock farmers that do not use artificial feed for their animals.
Earlier Local Media reports indicate that according to the 2018/19 Southern African Development Community (SADC) food and nutrition security outlook report, the effects of climate change, especially drought and flooding, has continued to negatively affect nutrition and food security in the region.
The report says the number of food and nutrition-insecure people has increased to 29.4 million in the 2018/19 consumption year from last season’s 27 million after a drop from 38 million in 2016/17.
El Nino is an irregularly occurring and complex series of climatic changes affecting the equatorial Pacific region and beyond every few years, characterized by the appearance of unusually warm, nutrient-poor water off northern Peru and Ecuador, typically in late December. The effects of El Niño include reversal of wind patterns across the Pacific, drought in Australasia, and unseasonal heavy rain in South America.
