Zambia to host Inaugural Session of the Zambia-Turkey Joint Economic Commission.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Zambia will this week host a two-day Inaugural Session of the Zambia-Turkey Joint Economic Commission to negotiate and agree upon areas of bilateral cooperation.


In a statement issued to Money FM News, Foreign Affairs Public Relations Officer Chansa Kabwela said possible areas of cooperation include financial matters, Trade and Industry, Education, Agriculture, Transport and Communication, Energy and Mining, among others.
Ms Kabwela explained that Zambia -Turkey Joint Economical Commission is a framework of cooperation between the two countries designed to promote mutual trade and economic cooperation in the countries.


“The Zambia-Turkey JEC is a framework of cooperation between Zambia and Turkey designed to promote mutual trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The Commission is also responsible for the implementation of activities under the Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation signed by the two countries on 15th December, 2011 in Geneva” Ms Kabwela said.

The inaugural Zambia-Turkey JEC, which is Co-Chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Joseph Malanji and Turkey’s Minister of Family, Labour and Social Services, Ms. Zehra Zumruk Selcuk, is scheduled for 12th to 13th February, 2020.
And Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Malanji has indicated that the Zambia-Turkey JEC is an important platform for the two countries to monitor progress on agreed areas of cooperation and to strengthen the existing warm relations between the two countries.
