An oil and Gas company Tullow Oils says the Zambian rift valley has a huge potential for oil.
Company Vice President Tim O’hanlon says countries which are along the rift valley system have possibilities of having oil deposits hence the possibilities of Zambia having oil.
Tullow Oils was recently granted a ten year licence by Government for oil exploration along the Tanganyika and Mweruwantipa basin in Northern and Luapula provinces.
Mr. O’hanlon says his organisation is expected to give an update on their findings so far by January 2018.

He says the benefiting areas include Mporokoso, Nsama and Kaputa districts in Northern Province and Mwense.
Dr. Mulenga has added that the University of Zambia (UNZA) is among the beneficiaries of the Tullow Oils grants and has received USD $100,000 further adding that the grants are for development and enhanced training at the respective institutions.
