Zambia Postal Services Corporation (ZAMPOST) has urged its former Employees to remain patient as it is doing everything possible to clear the K50 million terminal benefits owed to them.
Corporation Master General Brighton Ngoma tells Money FM News in an interview that currently management has engaged Government on the matter and it is willing to take up the payment of the former workers.
“We are committed to dismantling the arrear that is why we have engaged Government to intervene in this issue,” he said.
Mr Ngoma explains that management owes about K50 million in arrears to former workers and efforts are being made to ensure that the amount is settled.
“So far Government has approved the balance shit restructuring from ZAMPOST which involves liquating the debts to Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA), as well as retirees,” he stated.
Recently, National Union of Communication Workers challenged Zampost to source for funds and settle all outstanding terminal benefits it owes to its former workers.
And some retrenched ZAMPOST workers in Luanshya district on the Copperbelt and other provinces demanded payment of their terminal benefits from government.
The workers who were retrenched in 2015 were wondered to why government was not funding ZamPost to pay them their terminal benefits.
