Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has seized consignments of Ivermectin tablets from three pharmacies in Chipata district of Eastern province.

‘‘The affected harmacies are namely Motala Pharmacy, Chipata Chemist Limited and Healthcare Pharmacy Limited,’’ she said.
Mrs. Lliamupu said there is no conclusive clinical evidence to support the use of Ivermectin in the prevention or treatment COVID-19 as it has only been registered and authorised for veterinary use in Zambia.
She further advised pharmaceutical outlets to refrain from the illegal importation and sale of Ivermectin as they risk regulatory action and prosecution by the law.
‘‘Members of the public are encouraged to the adhere to the current Ministry of Health guidelines on prevention and treatment of COVID-19 and should refrain from self prescribing with any unauthorised medical products,’’ she added
