ZCCM-IH on ground sensitising artisanal gold miners

ZCCM Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH) says it has been on the ground sensitizing artisanal gold miners about the gold purchasing program which commenced in March 2020.
Responding to a Press Query Sent in by Money FM News, ZCCM-IH Public Relations Officer Loisa Mbatha says the program was an initial step the company took towards formalizing the artisanal and small scale gold trade in the first half of the year.
“Our team has been on the ground sensitizing artisanal gold miners about this programme and buying gold as well. This was an initial step we took towards formalising the artisanal and small scale gold trade,” she said
Ms. Mbatha discloses that this also comes after ZCCM-IH recently handed over some artisanal exploration and gold processing equipment in Rufunsa, Lumezi and Vubwi, another step aimed at empowering the artisanal gold miners.

“This particular programme we are working in collaboration with the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development and also The Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry,” she said.
