ZCSA seizes 126 bottles of expired Clear Beer valued at K2, 100

• Clear Beer is regulated under the Zambian Standard (ZS) 430.
• It expired on 29th June, 2023 but was still stocked for public consumption.
• This is contrary to the Compulsory Standards Act No. 3 of 2017.

Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has seized 126 bottles of expired Clear Beer valued at K2, 100 from a pub in Kitwe.
Agency Head of Communications Brian Hatyoka said the Clear Beer, which is regulated under the Zambian Standard (ZS) 430, expired on 29th June, 2023 but it, 2023 contrary to the Compulsory Standards Act No. 3 of 2017.
Mr. Hatyoka explained that the beer was seized from Leo’s Pub and Grill, during an enforcement exercise conducted yesterday, following a tip off from members of the public.
“The Agency has warned entities to avoid supplying products that may put the health and safety of consumers at risk,” Mr. Hatyoka stated.
He commended members of the public for alerting the Agency and urged consumers to only consume regulated beverages to safeguard their safety and health.
“On July 5, 2023, ZCSA hosted a roadshow at Chisokone market in Kitwe to sensitize the public on the dangers of used undergarments and unregulated potable spirits.”
“Officials from Chisokone Market Committee, Kitwe City Council, Change Mindset Zambia, Kitwe Central Police and journalists from Ndola and Kitwe joined ZCSA staff and artistes in sensitizing the public on the said products,” he stated.
