• The Registry at Ministry of Lands is quite outdated
• Financing of the upgrade of the registry is a step in the right direction.
• It will provide for modern equipment, digitalizing of data, and other modern facilities.
Zambia Land Alliance (ZLA) has urged Ministry of Lands to set up an efficient state of the registry following the release of K49 million by Ministry of Finance towards renovation of this facility.
Alliance Executive Director Patrick Musole told Money FM News in an interview this is especially that the law has now been amended to provide for digital submission of land documents.
Mr. Musole stated that the financing of the upgrade of the registry is a step in the right direction because it will provide for modern equipment, digitalizing of data, and other modern facilities.
“We are very excited about that move by government. The Registry at Ministry of Lands is quite outdated, to say the least. So we think that the financing of the upgrade of the registry is a step in the right direction,” Mr. Musole stated.
He noted that a lot of documents go missing and get eaten up by termites because they are in hard copy, hence the Association is elated with government’s move to renovate the registry.
“So we urge the Ministry of Lands to ensure that state of the art registry is set up, which will be efficient, especially that the law has now been amended, to provide for digital submission of land documents,” he added.
Ministry of Finance recently released K49 million to renovate the registry at the Ministry of Lands and enhance services such as obtaining of land titles.
