33 Siavonga Schools issued with Covid-19 certificates

• Siavonga Town Council issued 33 Covid-19 health guidelines certificates to Schools.
• This is in accordance with a circular issued by Ministry of General Education.
• Only one School did not meet the requirements.

Siavonga Town Council says it has issued 33 Covid-19 health guidelines certificates to Schools that have met the standard health regulations.
Council Public Relations Officer Gwendolyn Mchenga told Money FM News that the move has been done in accordance with a circular issued by Ministry of General Education on the certification of Schools and Colleges by the Councils.
Ms. Mchenga said out of 34 Schools that were inspected by a team of officers from the Council’s Health department, Education standard officers from District Education Board Secretary and Environmental Health Technologists from Ministry of Health, 33 were issued with Certificates.
She stated that the 33 Schools met the standard health guidelines and only one did not meet the requirements, and was given five working days to work on the recommendations.
“In accordance with a circular issued by the Ministry of General Education on the certification of Schools and Colleges by the Councils, Siavonga Town Council has issued thirty-three (33) Covid-19 health guidelines certificates to Schools that met the standard health guidelines.”
“In line with the Public Health Act CAP 295 of the laws of Zambia guided by the two Statutory Instruments 21 of 2020 which designates Covid-19 as a modifiable disease and Statutory Instrument 22 which provides additional regulations to facilitate management and control of Covid-19, a team of officers from the Council’s Health department, Education standard officers from DEBS and Environmental Health Technologists from the Ministry of Health conducted inspections in thirty-four Schools within the district,” Ms. Mchenga said.
She cited Siavonga High School, Dibwe,Kabuyu, Kabbila, Katulumba, Kalishoma, Johann Myburg, and Siavonga Primary School as some of the learning institutions which were inspected.
Ms. Mchenga said the Council has since applauded School managements for meeting the health guidelines.
“Council Secretary Elizabeth Muteto advised management to continue following the given Covid-19 health guidelines as prevention of the disease among learners, Teachers and the Community at large,” she stated.
