560-Indians visited Zambia for tourism purposes this year -KAPIJIMPNGA

Zambia’s High Commissioner to India says about 560 Indians visited Zambia for tourism purposes and as ordinary visitors in the year 2018.
In a statement made to Money FM News, by first Secretary Press and Tourism at the Zambian Mission in new Delhi, India, Bangwe Naviley, Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga says this represents an increase of about 144 from the 416 recorded in the year 2017.
Mrs Kapijimpanga says 338 Indians obtained visas directly from the High Commission.
She adds that about 200 from the Kolkata Club obtained online visas and a further 22 under the Goa- Lusaka Tourism and Trade Mission equally obtained their visas online.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga says the highest number of tourists from India was in the month of May where 57 tourists visited Zambia in the peak period because it is the hottest month of the year in India and also the best time to visit and watch the Victoria Falls in Zambia.
She says the lowest was in the month of December in which only 11 tourists visited the country because it is the coldest month of the year in which most Indians stay home enjoying the weather and that the Indian currency, the rupee weakened against major convertible currencies such as the US Dollar.
The High Commissioner says most Indians felt the need to visit Zambia following the first ever visit in 30 years by an Indian President, Shri Ram Nath Kovind in April this year.
Mrs. Kapijimpanga says the Mission saw the Great African Caravan of India take Eight artists from various countries who travelled for two hundred days from South Africa to Egypt who passed through Zambia in September 2018 where they stayed for seven days to showcase their traditional music, paintings and films.
