Effects of the increasing corruption on FDI in Zambia will Visible over time – TIZ

Transparency International Zambia says the effects of the increasing corruption on Foreign Direct Investments in Zambia may not be immediately Visible but over time, investors may opt to go to other countries that are cleaner than Zambia.
TIZ Vice Chairperson Rueben Lifuka says investors look at the Prevalence of corruption in a country before making a decision to set up any investments there.
Mr. Lifuka says if a country is highly corrupt, it means the playing field is not leveled and there is unfair competition which favors only the corrupt companies.
The 2018 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index says Zambia’s corruption levels have increased 35 points out of 100 on a measurement of 0 being highly corrupt and 100 indicating no corruption.
This indicates 2 points decline from the 37 points recorded in 2017.
The Report further ranks Zambia at 105 out of 180 countries, indicating a 9 places drop from the 96 the country was ranked in 2017.
