• They have been jointly charged with five counts of Theft by Agent contrary to the laws of Zambia.

• They have since been released on Bond and will appear in court on 30th March 2023.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested former President of the National Association of Small and Medium Contractors (NAMSC) and former Secretary General of the same association for corrupt practices involving K79,000.
Commission Head of Corporate Communications Timothy Moono revealed that Edward Mpepo 59 and Danny Simumba 51, have been jointly charged with five counts of Theft by Agent contrary to the laws of Zambia.
Mr. Moono explained that the duo jointly and whilst acting together between 1st and 31st June 2018 in Lusaka, stole cash in separate amounts totaling K79, 000 intended for workshops, benchmarking studies and feasibility studies by the said Association which were derived from the National Road Fund Agency (NRFA), a public body.
“Mpepo, 59, of Kasupe Farms in Lusaka West and Danny Simumba, 51, of plot number 7583, Nkana East, have been jointly charged with five counts of Theft by Agent contrary to Section 280 (b) of the Penal Code cap 87 of the laws of Zambia.”
“Further, the Commission has separately charged Edward Mpepo with one count of Theft by Agent contrary to section 280 (b) of the Penal Code cap 87 of the laws of Zambia involving K60,000. The Commission has also charged separately Danny Simumba with one count of Uttering a False document namely a receipt contrary to section 352 of the Penal Code cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia,” Mr. Moono revealed.
He added that Mr. Simumba generated a receipt to purport that he had engaged consultancy services for the Association when in fact not.
“The duo has since been released on Bond and will appear in court on 30th March 2023,” he said.
