AFECC donates K50, 000 towards Central Expo

Four companies including Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Company (AFECC) of China have become the latest firms to support the forthcoming Central Province Investment Forum and Expo through a donation of K140, 000.

AFECC, the company constructing the Mwomboshi Dam in Chisamba District, has donated K50, 000 while Mopani Copper Mine and SAFFECKS Investment from the Copperbelt have contributed various amounts towards the hosting of the region’s biggest exhibition next month.

Central Province Minister, Sydney Mushanga received the donation of K50, 000 from AFECC on Saturday at his office on behalf of the provincial administration.

Mr. Mushanga has thanked all the companies that have contributed towards the hosting of the Expo.

He however said the working budget staggered at K8 million has not yet been met and appealed for more donations from corporate entities to make the historical event successful.

He described the donations that have come through so far as a demonstration of sound relationship between the Central Province Administration and the private sector.

“We are grateful to the gesture because K50, 000 is not a small amount, it’s a demonstration of your support towards the Expo and it will go a long way in meeting our budget for this historic events,” Mr. Mushanga said.

Meanwhile, AFECC vice president, Kan Jiatao, said the donation is a symbol of appreciation to the government, the provincial administration and the Zambian people for the support rendered to the construction company.

Mr Jiatao who is also the contract manager for the Mwomboshi Dam Project said construction works will be completed eight months ahead of schedule because of the valuable support from government and the local people.

The Central Province Investment Forum and Expo will be held from 8 to 13 October 2018 at Mulungushi University Main Campus under the theme, `Accelerating Investment for Inclusive and Sustainable Development’.
