BuyZed Campaign has called on Borehole drillers to stop charging customers on dry boreholes.
Speaking to Money FM News, Organization Founder Evans Ngoma said it is wrong for Borehole drillers to charge customers for their own failure as drilling firms to find water underground.
Mr. Ngoma said it is unfortunate that most foreign owned firms are charging clients in the event that they drill a dry borehole, while there are some local companies that do not charge for dry boreholes.
“We have noted over time the bad practice which the borehole drillers have engaged themselves in, this is by charging customers on dry boreholes which they themselves borehole drillers have cited.”
“It will be a different case if a customer demands that the borehole should be at that spot and then thereafter they do not find any water, then the customer can be charged but in the case whereby the borehole drillers themselves cite, drill and the borehole is dry, to continue to charge the customer it is uncalled for,” Mr. Ngoma said.
He appealed to government to seriously look into the matter and protect citizens from paying for drillers’ incompetence to find water.
“We are calling on the relevant government Ministries to protect citizens from this unbecoming, it is not right,” he added.
